Teacher Feedback: On first cut
So after making a start on editing with the material we had we decided the get some teacher feedback on the shots and scene we had filmed and put together in final cut for the video. The initial part of the video the intro was said to be a good setting and the positioning of Jack was appropriate being his was the main character and the attention is always on him. However when the beginning of verse one it was mentioned that Jack was not strong enough at miming the lyrics properly to be convincing enough that it was actually him singing. We went over the imagery quite a few times and did see some faults to the miming and agreed with the point. because of this we have decided that it would be better if we took out the miming verses and concentrated on jack telling the narrative physically through his acting. This was the first change we will make at the filming shoot. The next criticism was that in verse one there was no clear start to the narrative after knowing what our plan was for the story it was highlights this wasn't following or explaining the narrative that was meant to be seen in the video. The actual plan was to show Jack in verse one was to be dragged to the bedroom, however there is not enough in our original footage to explain this, So we will be thinking of a new approach to help explain the narrative clearer.
The good points to the edited part of the video was the use of cameras angles the narrative that is trying to come through, which we need to work on to get the message across. We have decided to look at a new approach in telling the story with possibility of using real time footage and flash backs using different camera and after affects. We think that the this idea of flash backs will definitely go with the song structure and meaning and will hopefully help us the tell the narrative exactly the way we want to. it is difficult to create just the right look for the video but we feel but working on the filming again, and re-filming certain aspects of the story we can create a better video and a clearer narrative.
